My name is Gabriel Menashe, based in Tel Aviv.
I began my career as a press photographer and photo editor. Today, my work focuses primarily on still life, photographed in natural light.
I explore the way light interacts with ordinary, everyday objects — simple things that can reconnect us with something fundamental, awakening deep memories of home and a quiet sense of nostalgia.
Not everything needs to be perfect.
My photography is deliberately removed from the polished language of commercial food or catalogue photography. Wilted flowers are welcome. Imperfections are allowed to remain.
The objects I photograph are often found in food and vegetable markets, or sometimes simply taken from my refrigerator. I try not to beautify them or turn them into something they are not.
Instead, I photograph them as they are — imperfect, familiar, and quietly evocative.
The idea that guides my work is simple:
